Steph Curry’s secret recipe to a perfect 3 pointer shot on the court

Wardell Stephen Curry is one of the most prolific shooter of NBA history. But how does he do it? One of the key secret lies in his FEET. A major aspect of his game that often gets overlooked is his incredible movement away from the ball. On average Curry runs 2.5 half miles per game that is double the distance covered by an NFL wide receiver. The best example of his shot is game 4 of 2019 Western Conference Finals.

In just 24 seconds he averages 6.6 miles per hour and changes directions 12 times . He astoundingly manages to cover 226 feet of ground in half court matches and still nails the 3 pointer shot in less than 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

Another secret is that he manages to control his HEART RATE . His endurance on lengthy matches is this ability. When our pulse elevates to 115 beats per minute we intend to lose fine motor skills, mainly the hand eye coordination but Curry’s Intense conditioning and training allows him to reduce his heart rate to 80 beats per minute in just the span of a single 90 second short break and he is ready to go all out again and shoot with extreme efficiency. This is why over the course of his career he has been able to average 5 miles per hour when moving without the ball ranking higher than other guards like Kemba Walker and Russell Westbrook.

The Steph Shot guide

Even after everything he is able to make quick intricate adjustments to his shooting form. He tweaks his shot by jumping forward this pushes his landing spot by an additional foot compared to where he typically lands to compensate for this extra forward momentum he adjusts by  launching a ball higher than normal 60 degree  release angle which results in a sky high arc and a clutch basket. It is very rare that he misses a shot from any angle of the court which makes the opponents even more exhausted.

Curry was a menace in the NCAA to other teams. All the other teams knew who he was and what damage he could do if left open for even  a second. On november 25th Davidson team, NCAA employed a constant double team on curry whenever he has ball in his hands even though he couldn’t score but his team still won. In the next game Curry fetched 44 points and set the record that season as the leading score at 28.6 points per game. Curry opted to enter 2009 NBA draft.

He always had an underdog mentality even with two MVP awards, 3 championships a 50 – 40 – 90 season, multiple all NBA teams and a scoring title, and all this was just the beginning of his journey.

He is till date the MOST VALUABLE PLAYER and keeps refining his skills to back more awards in future.
